Vitamin C Acne Scars Reddit
[Routine Help] Have you had success with vit C?
Hoping for a discussion and to get some advice here.
Have you seen positive results by adding a vitamin C serum to your regime? What did you see a change in?
If so, how do you use it? On its own or with other products? PM or AM? How often do you use it?
Not looking for specific product recs (I know where to find those!)
Thanks in advance for any contributions!

It helps to fade my freckles, and I've read it works well for scars too. I use C-Firma but there are much cheaper brands than drunk elephant. Between that and Framboos (acid), my freckles have faded 50% in a month.

Has anyone noticed it reduce fine lines?

I've seen improvements in lightening of post-acne marks. I use it every other AM after cleansing, try to wait at least 20min for it to soak in, then apply moisturizer and sunscreen.

Could you use it every other night before moisturizer? What brand do you use?

How long until you saw results?

A little bit of fading of sun damage, but not much success. I know you're not looking for product recommendations, but if you're interested in formulations, I think that's been my issue. I've been trying L-AA, and I don't think I've been waiting long enough for it to work before adding my higher ph products over it. It's also been difficult to use it consistently since it oxidizes so quickly for me. I just ordered a MAP formulation, I'm hoping to see positive effects.

It worked AMAZINGLY for me to reduce PIH. I used it every morning as I was using Differin in the PM.

I've been using the TruSkin Naturals off Amazon for $20. I did notice a slight lightening of acne marks (I used it for two weeks before adding any other products).
Overall, it helped with redness on my cheeks, dullness with my skin, and dark circles around my eyes the most. I would repurchase again but I wouldn't spend more than $20.

I use the 23% suspension from The Ordinary that everybody else hates. It does sting a bit and smell unpleasant but, man, does it give me such a healthy beautiful glow the next morning. I use this one at the very end and mix it with an emollient or an occlusive. PM only. It seems to pill up so I can't use it in the AM.

I use this too! I was hoping the stinging would go away once my face got acclimated but it still feels like a million needles.

Personally, I haven't. I've used up several products (with several different forms of Vit C) during the past two years without much luck. I have a few post-acne marks and they are slighly faded, but that's about it, and I can't really know if that's for those products or for other actives I've used.

I definitely saw rapid results both times I tried it, but unfortunately both products I tried broke me out badly. If it didn't break me out I would have been a happy camper though. My acne scarring went away faster and my skin had more of a glow.

I use one I got on Amazon. Tru skin naturals is the brand. I think it's been fading my acne scars. But I started using Rosehip Oil (both at night) around the same time so I can't confirm that either is more or less beneficial.

Vitamin C helps even out my skin tone/ freckles / acne scars etc. It's one of my must-have products.
I apply a few drops on clean, dry skin in the AM. Gently rub it in then top it off with my regular moisturizer.

what serum do you use?

it's really helped lighten my acne scars! I apply it in the morning after toner and let it soak in a few minutes before applying moisturizer.

I haven't noticed any insane difference but my skin does feel softer and it's definitely more glow-y. I would probably repurchase a vitamin C serum again but I wouldn't spend more than $20 on one. I think it really depends on your skin type and the results you're looking for. Hope that helps!

I've been using it for a month and a half at this point. At first I applied in the morning, but I love it so much that I've been using it AM and PM lately. My skin feels softer, my acne marks are fading faster than they used to, and my acne heals much faster when I do break out.
I've replaced chemical exfoliation at night with vitamin c for now...kind of trialing this to see how it goes. I think I may have been exfoliating too much.

I've tried. I think I just haven't found my match in terms of vitamin c serums. The last one I had I suppose was too strong for my skin, considering how sensitive my skin is. Right now I'm working through a breakout and when it subsides I plan to use the Maelove vitamin c and e serum.

It's been working for me. I've been using it for a bit less than a month and I started noticing effects very quickly :

It has helped with fading some PIH I had from a previous breakout. The PIH had been there for around 2 months and just wouldn't go away. It finally faded after I started using Vit C

I've been totally surprised to see it have an effect on my under eye area. This is where I saw the quickest improvement 😊 it considerably lightened the area which is great 👌

In conjunction with some chemical exfoliants, it has made my skin much softer.
